The forecast technology requires historical TV meter data, program and a break schedules log as well as program genres' descriptions.
Audience prediction technology
The prediction engine is built on an individual basis. The viewing behavior of each panel member is investigated and simulated separately. The software produces personal forecasts for each respondent from the sample. Key factors influencing viewing behavior are taken into account: channel competition, genre loyalty, viewer inheritance and program expectation, time distribution of TV watching and break zapping. The audience of new programs is estimated using program classification or user-defined settings. User expertise can be applied by using the similarity concept and some other options for particular transmissions. Various statistical outputs provide the user with possibility to control quality of the forecast. The relative mean prediction error is 5-10% of the channel audience for channels with share greater than 10% and 10-20% of the channel audience for channels with share less than 10%.
Forecast results can be shown on a minute-by-minute or on a programme-by-programme basis in both table and chart views.
Schedule building
Schedule Builder is designed to create and edit program and commercial break schedules. Audience forecasts can be made immediately after a schedule is created. Different variations of schedule can be created, estimated and compared allowing the user to choose the best one. A wizard to select a different program with higher audience in this particular time slot supports replacement of any existing program in schedule. Schedule Builder provides an easy way to compare prediction results with actual audience figures as soon as real TV meter data becomes available.
