Polar is a peoplemeter polling system, designed for TV audience data providers.
The main advantages of the system are:
- Full automation and control of the whole data polling process
- Cost-effective distributed architecture
- Salability and reliability
- Windows based and easy-to-use
Architecture

The distributed network architecture of Polar enables you to use the system across wide areas with different time zones. Polar includes one central station and any number of local stations, which can be installed in different regions. The central station communicates with local stations and local stations communicate with people-meters allowing to minimize data collection costs. The central station can also communicate with people-meters.
Polling
Polar provides day-by-day people-meter polling. Control of the polling process can be performed automatically or manually, from a central or local station. If a local station stopped work then non-polled people-meters are polled automatically by other working local stations.

Database administration
This module allows you to easily manage all information required for people-meter polling: households, individuals and their demographics, TV sets, people-meter devices, and so on. You can choose the most advantageous database management system according to your needs because Polar's database is ODBC compliant.

Output generator
The output generator creates files containing information about daily viewing switches and respondents' demographics; it also computes daily weights. The structure of the output file is easily customizable. During output generation you can specify the desired time of polling, i.e. households polled later than the specified time will not be taken into consideration.

Quality control
Quality control provides a quick and easy way to.
- Find and fix problems with people-meters
- Find changes in households (appearance of channels, appearance of new individuals, etc.)
- Find mistakes in use of people-meters by respondents
- Remove incorrect data from output
